June 19 coincided with the feast of Corpus Christi. In Poland, on this day held processions through the streets of towns and villages. The streets around the church building, four altars and wanders from one to the other. On the route of the procession embellishes the windows.
Sometimes the decor is modest, sometimes very rich and attractive.
Some processions are very orderly arranged. On the other hand some are very spontaneous, which I guess you can see in the pictures.
In my town there were several such procession. In each attended by several thousand people.
Sample design of several windows.
One of the altars.
At the time order of procession on the streets guarding the police.
It was hard to photograph everything in the crowd. For example, I could not make a good picture little girls sprinkle flower petals or little boys ringing bells.
Blessing of the third altar.
Wow! People really do come out for the occasion. Excellent captures.
ReplyDeleteWe don;t have something similar in Greece. Each Sunday is a celebration for the feast of Corpus Christi.
